“Too often, we fail to consider the ways in which our surroundings constrain our creativity. When we are always ‘close’ to the problems of work, when we never silence our phones or stop responding to e-mail, we get trapped into certain mental habits. We assume that there is no other way to think about things, that this is how it must always be done. It’s not until we’re napping by the pool with a pina colada in hand — when work seems a million miles away — that we suddenly find the answer we’ve needed all along.”

Just a little heads up – posting throughout the next two weeks or so may be lighter than usual because today was my last day at the firm, tonight I’m heading upstate to spend Thanksgiving weekend with my best friend and his family (all of whom I love times infinity + 1), and then Monday I start my new job.  Please please please just keep in mind, it’s not you (it’s me).  Oh, and in case I haven’t told you already, thank you.  Thank you sooo f-ing much.

Wow, I fucking LOVE what’s going on outside. I mean, I know some of you are all, “Ooooh that indian summer was so nice, this cold shit blows,” but for card carrying tribe members who don’t have super-convenient, come rain or come shine asian hair genes, a hot and heavy 75°, 80% humidity, and 100% chance of bitchy ass light rain is exactly how our curls hate spiral into a full blown anxiety attack, we accidentally overdose on gel and mousse, and wednesday becomes just another epic fail.  So when I woke up this morning and discovered:
.
49° and sunny
38% humidity
100% awesome
.
I was all, ho-man (hell yes).

Last week, my Aunt Max was visiting from Oakland and we went to this new Dutch bakery slash farm-to-table restaurant slash gin bar slash beer hall slash could we get another round of slash slashes, please. But really, she’s just the coolest, so it’s no surprise we ate and drank and talked and laughed ourselves delicious.  Like the pickled pear chillin’ in our pickle pot, she’s just a good one.

last to leave.

Nerves linger.
.
So I haven’t been sleeping.
Because I had to do something big.
Like, really fucking big.
.
So I decided to find old me.
Because I had to be prepared.
Like, really fucking prepared.
.
So I did it till it was done.
Because I had to do something big.
Like, really fucking big.
.
Of course, nerves linger.
